Megan E. Tierney

Megan E. Tierney focuses her practice primarily on Litigation, Insurance, and Transactional work. She represents clients in employment, aviation, commercial, product liability and general negligence matters before state and federal courts, as well as before state and federal administrative agencies. She also represents both purchasers and sellers of aircraft in the buying, selling, financing and registration of air carrier and business aircraft of all sizes, including creating and registering aircraft holding entities, with further experience in aircraft leasing; Part 91 and Part 135 ownership structures and regulatory compliance issues; minimization of sales and use tax; fractional ownership programs; and negotiation of management agreements, charter agreements and hangar/tie-down leases on behalf of operators, aircraft owners and FBO's.

Prior to joining the Law Offices of Paul A. Lange in 2009, Megan worked for a mid-size insurance defense firm. She defended clients through trial and appeal, primarily small businesses, in matters involving liquor liability claims under both statutory actions pursuant to the Dram Shop Act and theories of reckless service of alcohol. She also defended drivers in motor vehicle accidents and various employers with respect to workers' compensation claims. Other areas of practice included defense of insurance coverage disputes, defense of civil and administrative claims against corporate clients, and employment law. Megan has extensive motion practice experience, including drafting and oral argument of substantive motions to strike and motions for summary judgment, in both state and federal courts, as well as on the complex litigation docket. Megan has additional experience in land redevelopment, planning and zoning matters, and litigation of contract disputes.

Megan is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA), as well as the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA).

Prior to attending law school, Megan worked for Dr. Richard Lifton, Chairman, Department of Genetics, Yale University School of Medicine. While working for Dr. Lifton, Megan developed a background in genetics and bench science, specializing in mutation detection techniques.
